Last Week of School for 2013

Parents:

We had a great pizza party Monday! Thanks to everyone for sending in the box tops. The money from the box tops goes to the new playground. There is a new contest going on now until March. The first prize is Dairy Queen Blizzards and a movie for the class. Send box tops in and let’s enjoy blizzards and a movie!!

It is hard to believe we only have 1 more week of  class left in the first semester. The kids are really doing great at centers and following the procedures.  Thanks to all who are sending in the reading logs. Make sure you have turned in all letter paper homework thru M by next week.

We will be having our Polar Express Day next Wednesday. Please send your child to school in pajamas but have them wear their regular shoes as we will be going over to lunch. Our Birthday Party for Jesus is Friday, our last day of school before break. It is also a Mass day. All half day children are invited to stay until 11:30. It is a half day and dismissal at 11:30 (we dismiss a half hour before the main school.) There is NO After care on Friday. Thanks to all who signed up to bring things for the party. All presents for Jesus will be donated to Birthline. Please have your child work for the money to buy a present.

Lost items found in the classroom are on top of the cubbies in the corner right as you walk in the room. Please take a minute to check, there are several items.

I will not be at school on Friday and Monday. My son has been deployed for the last 7 months and he is returning to Tampa. I am surprising him and coming down to welcome him home. Courtney will be here along with her mother who will be helping.

Have a great weekend and stay warm.

Week of November 11th

Parents:

Thanks to everyone for sending in the t-shirts. We will be painting them in art next week. Cami & Ali's grandmother is the art teacher at Holy Spirit and she will be helping us with this project. Our Feast will be on Monday November 25th at 10 AM. Parents are welcome to attend.

We are collecting granola bars for our food drive. When your child brings some in, their name will be placed on a paper bus and hung outside the school office. Thanks to those who have already brought some in we really apprecaite it!

We are starting a new Box Tops contest. Please send in box tops with your child's name on them. We will be having our pizza party after Thanksgiving. I will let you know the exact time as soon as I know.

We went to the library this afternoon. If your child did not come home with a library book it was because they were not listening when their name was called. We did have a few children who's names were called several times and they did not come to get their book.

Lastly please make sure you label all belongings and make sure your child has a coat as we will always go outside if possible. As always if you have any questions please feel free to email me.

We have been very busy in our class.  Retired teachers have been coming into our class on Wednesday's to read to the class.  We also have a school parent, Mrs. Sweney who comes and work with us on movement. Ask you child about these things. It is important to move around before we start centers to "wake " up our brains. The homework is coming in great. If you child has forgotten to put pictures on the back of things that start with the letter you can e mail and I will sent your papers back for them to finish. You do not have to do this, only if your child is interested otherwise,  please make sure from now on that you put pictures of thing starting with the letter the back.  These can be cut out or drawn.

Our field trip is on Monday, October 14.  We will meet at Waterman's Farm at 9 am at the gate. We go in as a group, have a hay ride and visit around the farm.  We will have a snack at 10:30 and then you will be dismissed with your child. This is not a full day for any preschoolers. The cost of the field trip is $5 a person. A permission slip will be in the Friday Folder, please make sure to return it on Monday.

Monday,Wednesday & Friday 4's Preschool Class

Parents:

Mrs. Clifford, the person who took my place while I was gone last week sent me an e mail about how well the kids did and how she really enjoyed the class. Your kids did a great job. We have had a couple of kids out sick the last couple of classes. It seems we have colds and some strep throat going around. Just a reminder your child must be fever free for 24 hours without medicine  before they can come back to school. I have been talking to the children about the proper way to cough ( into their elbow) and also about washing their hands often.

Our field trip is coming up on Monday, October 14th. The trip is to the Waterman's Farm. We meet at the farm at 9am and will go in as a group. We do some activities and then have a snack. We will dismiss from Waterman's around 11 am and you will have the rest of the day to spend with your child. This is not a full day of school for any of the preschoolers. Look for more information to come home in this weeks Friday's folder.

The homework is coming in very nice. Remember I will be keeping the letter papers until the end of the year.  You will received a "book" of the letters to keep at the year end conference. Please send in all letter pages, even if you have some late ones. Make sure to put pictures of things that begin with the letter on the back of the paper. They can either be cut or drawn.

Label all coats, jackets, sweaters and towels.

Have a Great Week

Week of September 9 Tuesday/Thursday Class

Another great week in preschool.  The children are settling down very nice and doing a great job at following procedures. We are working on the SmartBoard each day at centers. We have been working on our colors and shapes. Ask your child how they liked it.  Manners will be our theme all month long and we will be reading books and doing activities about manners and sharing with our friends.  The rice centers has also been open at centers this week. We are always looking for donations of rice (just plain white rice) to refill our rice table as when it lands on the floor, I sweep it up and throw it away.

Please remember to send in Box Tops.  All money collected will go towards a new playground. There is a contest for collecting the most per class  and it will end in October, so please save and send in your Box Tops.

As the weather gets colder don't forget to send in jackets and as always label your jackets.  Keep sending in the reading logs. The kids got suckers today for turning in their reading logs. Thanks for all you do. This is a great class and very fun to teach.

God Bless

Tuesday Thursday Preschool Class- Week of September 2nd

The children are all doing well with their morning procedures, hanging up backpacks, checking in, going to the restroom and washing their hands and then coming in finding their seat and beginning their morning work. We stand for the prayer and pledges and then all sit down and listen to Mrs. Parsons on the announcements.  After the announcements are finished they sit and finish their morning work.  We then go to circle and do some movement and talk about our day.  Next we have centers. We do different activities at each center. Centers are from 8:15 to 9:30 every Tuesday and Thursday. We can always use parent help.  If you are interested please send me an e mail. After centers we go to the gym and play games, then back to the room or outside. Ask your child about their day. Please remember to send back the reading logs the following Thursday. Label all clothes. Please send jackets when necessary as we go outside to play. Hope this gives you an idea of our morning. Any questions please e mail: kflynn@holyspirit-indy.org
